In the village, numerous children were deprived of education due to either parental preferences for them to work on farms or financial constraints preventing them from affording school expenses, particularly affecting minority groups. Tukee Nepal Society not only covers school fees but also provides for books, pens, and school uniforms. Each year, students receive new uniforms, including winter sweaters and socks, allowing them to keep the old ones for home use, eliminating the need for extra clothing purchases and encouraging parents to send their children to school.
Tukee Nepal Society has sponsored 30 students who have completed their education, with two of them securing jobs. Efforts are underway to find employment opportunities for others who have finished their education. Currently, the organization sponsors 260 students across primary, high school, and university levels.
Future plans involve expanding support to enable more students to attend high school and university. Many students discontinue education after primary school due to financial constraints. Tukee Nepal Society seeks additional sponsors to continue the education of those who had to stop and to support more children who never attended school. The aim is to increase access to education for more children in Jyamrung and neighboring villages.
Recognizing the literacy challenges in Nepal, where 42% of the population is literate and 20% are educated, Tukee Nepal Society initiated 6-month education courses for older individuals who never attended school. These courses, held in the evenings, focus on basic reading and writing skills. The project not only integrates them into society but also encourages them to send their own children to school.
A portion of the education fund was allocated to constructing additional school buildings due to inadequate government financial support. Four new buildings have been constructed, but many existing ones need replacement. Currently, 10 more schools require new buildings.
To address the shortage of teachers, Tukee Nepal Society sponsored 7 or 8 teachers in different schools, as the government's supply was insufficient. With an increasing number of students attending classes, ongoing sponsorship is needed. The organization also supported the establishment of a library filled with national and international books on various subjects. Further sponsorship is sought to establish more libraries in different villages and purchase additional books.
